10 Weird Mental Malfunctions

5. CIPA – An Inability to Feel Pain

CIPA, or Congenital Insensitivity to Pain with Anhidrosis, is caused by a genetic mutation that causes the gene barer to display episodes of fever and the inability to sense of pain despite the fact that all other senses and sense receptors remain functional. The person will also sweat less or lack the ability to sweat at all. CIPA is very rare and affects under 100 people in the USA each year. The most famous case of this disease is a 12 year old girl from Georgia who’s family founded ‘Camp Painless but Hopeful’, a camp dedicated to sufferers of the disease.
