Does work seem to continuously pile up and make you feel overwhelmed? There are certain strategies that you can implement that can make working efficiently that much easier.
You can try the Pomodoro Technique or you can find ways to decrease your distractions.
Here are five ways of working efficiently to avoid burnout.
1. Pomodoro Technique
One of the best methods to try to alleviate work pressure is the Pomodoro Technique. This technique consists of picking a task to work on and setting a time limit to do nothing but that task. You take a five-minute break after that time limit is up and repeat the process.
For best results, put away your phone and other distractions during this time frame.
2. Set Goals
Whether these are monetary goals or time goals, setting goals is a great way to give yourself deadlines and aspirations. It provides you a timeline to get things done and you can reward yourself when you reach these goals.
Make sure to be realistic with your goals. Start small and work yourself up to your limit to avoid missing goals and feeling too stressed.
3. Use Your Available Resources
If you’re having problems that you can’t solve yourself, then try using the resources given to you.
For instance, say you want to try tracking your pay more effectively as a contract worker. You can use the internet to give yourself pay stubs that reflect what you make and make it easier to track.
Here are a few examples of check stubs for you to check out.
4. Keep Your Body Moving
Don’t let yourself sit in front of the screen all day doing nothing. You have limited amounts of blood flow when you sit around which moving can help solve.
Take a walk for around 20 minutes to get your body moving again. This can help stimulate your brain and get you out of the area, which may give you fresh eyes to tackle your workload while working from home.
5. Set Realistic Expectations
Be realistic with yourself when it comes to expectations.
If you genuinely don’t think that you can accomplish something for your team or project, then be open about it. It is better that they know ahead of time rather than you let them down.
But also don’t be afraid to push yourself. If you find yourself cruising through the job and not finding it rewarding, try taking on a workload that challenges you and can keep you stimulated.
Working Efficiently Starts With Taking Care of Yourself
Working efficiently means more than increasing the amount of work you can take on.
It also means taking care of yourself and allowing you to produce the highest quality of work without stressing yourself out. It is not a simple process and you should play around with what methods work for you.
