7 Signs of a High-Value Person

What does it mean to be a person of high value?

It just means that you understand your worth and are comfortable in your skin without feeling the need to gloat about it.

You’re already a high-value person in your way, but it doesn’t hurt to read about it to know better.

Let’s go!

1. Authenticity.

Everyone has something they don’t like about themselves.

And there will be bad days when you feel overwhelmed by things you can’t control.

Those insecurities, doubts, and comparisons will most probably never fade away.

But a high-value person will always pick themselves back up.

Because they know that being the truest form of themselves is the best thing they can be.

So if you want to be one, start by understanding that you are enough.

Your presence, habits, and skills are necessary to this world.

Accept every part you have, even your shortcomings, and learn to live with them.

It would be impossible to make every individual in the world like you.

But see, you won’t actually need them to.

It’s not your goal to be liked by them, it’s your goal to be liked by you.

Because once you’re at peace with what you have, other opinions won’t sway you as much.

2. Awareness.

Which parts do you think you’re lacking?

What are you doing to improve?

Sometimes, reflecting on your weaknesses can provide discomfort.

Why am I the only one like this?

Why did it have to be me?

But although this leaves you feeling vulnerable, it also shows that you have a good amount of self-awareness.

Show maturity by welcoming your drawbacks.

Then, use them as motivation in reaching your next milestone.

Let’s say you think your weakness is not being able to communicate well and that you want to improve it.

Remember that success is earned through small steps.

You probably won’t get better at communicating if you throw yourself into a room full of unfamiliar faces and force yourself to talk to them.

This can give you too much pressure and may cause you to withdraw further rather than move onwards.

You can start by opening up more to your friends, then mutuals, then strangers.

Your efforts may seem so small, but they’re doing more for you than what you think.

3. Self-preservation.

Do you have a good idea of your standards?

It is important to discern which people or things help you grow or backtrack.

In relationships, it helps to cut off the toxic personalities before it starts affecting your mental and physical wellbeing.

This form of self-preservation is a trait that high-value people have.

They’re not afraid to manage their relationships because it plays such a huge role in their development.

Do you have someone who is constantly making you feel inferior?

Are you surrounded by people who leave you out of group activities?

You don’t necessarily have to cut ties with them, but it’s good to confront them and let them know how they make you feel.

And if the situation doesn’t improve later on, then you might benefit from establishing distance away from them.

Try not to settle people who make you feel bad about yourself.

You’re too great of a person to be treated that way.

4. Physical self-love.

You tend to know a person is high-value just from their appearance alone.

This is because a big part of realizing your self-worth is tending to your physical needs.

Do you have a skincare routine?

Are you having the right amount of exercise?

Do you eat nourishing food?

These may seem tedious, but they can provide a good impact on your physical and mental state.

When it comes to your mental health, self-care can help you manage stress, lower your risk of illness, and increase your energy (NIMH, n.d.).

This boost in self-esteem promotes acceptance of your personal view of your body and self.

Self-care doesn’t have to be huge changes outright.

It comes in little ones, too!

For example, if you find it difficult to start a workout routine, you can try doing just 5 minutes of it every day with a friend!

That way, you’re doing it at a pace that’s not too stressful and have someone who can relate with you.

One exercise, one good meal, and one wholehearted self-affirmation every day can make you feel like magic.

And when you’re ready to go further, reach for it.

5. Emotional stability.

Would you consider yourself emotionally calm, or turbulent?

How you handle different problems plays a lot in being a high-value person.

People tend to see calmer, more decisive personalities as leaders.

It also shows that you have a good handle on your mental state despite being in an unwanted situation. Therefore, people trust you more!

There are a lot of ways to build emotional stability. A good chunk of it is self-care, and the other part is healthy control.

Creating structure around your life helps you exert control over it.

You can do this by creating lists, schedules, and journaling.

It’s a good way to keep track of your emotions and activities and it also helps in anticipating possible problems.

Try not to neglect giving yourself rightful breaks and fun times.

It’s all about balance.

6. Independence.

Do you find solace in your own company?

High-value people give importance to their alone time.

It is a period of reflection and self-development.

And being alone also has benefits such as improving creativity, concentration, and sense of empathy.

Other people enjoy their isolated time more than others.

If you’re the type that doesn’t want to be alone a lot, try setting little dates with yourself once a week or every few days.

Do something that can entertain you without needing other people!

When you treasure the moments you can have with yourself, you won’t be quite dependent on other people to give you the same happiness.

So don’t be afraid to go out and have fun by yourself!

You might be surprised at the things you will discover.

7. Penchant for growth.

What personal improvement made you most proud?

Being a high-value person doesn’t mean that you think you’re perfect.

It means that yes, you’re very capable, and you can always work on being better.

This continuous act of educating yourself and learning from your mistakes means that you’re replacing pride with curiosity.

And through that, you’re opening yourself up to a wide array of experiences.

Other people will notice this open-minded demeanor and will naturally be attracted to it.

So, never turn down an opportunity to grow.

Failures are lessons waiting to be learned.
