8 Phrases Women Say When They Are Really Into You

It’s been widely accepted that women are usually more verbally expressive when it comes to showing their affection. And while that can be downright misleading and stereotypical because there are definitely androgynous women who go against that social norm, language still remains a common thread to express what we want in all its symbolism, directness, and everything in between. Here are 8 phrases women generally say when they are really into you:

1. I’m glad I met you.

When she tells you this, it means that she’s thankful that you’ve entered her life. Different people come into our lives on a day-to-day basis, but the ones who intrigue us and seem worth getting to know have the most effect on us. It means that for the time being, you’re an important chapter to her.

I said this phrase to the person I’m dating on a night when the two of us couldn’t fall asleep. But, I was tired and that’s when I tend to be more truthful as my walls come down from exhaustion. Admittedly, I was a little nervous to say it, but it was something I wanted to express before the next day arrived. I wanted to make the moment count.

2. You can talk to me.

If she says this, it means that she wants to be your listening ear. She’s showing you that you can be your true self and that she won’t hold any judgment against what you reveal to her. It’s a way of building trust between the two of you to form a closer bond.

When I tell a guy that he can talk to me about anything, I do it to make it clear that not only am I someone he can vent to or go to for his problems, but I also want to show him that I’m strong enough to handle whatever he chooses to dish out, whether it’s a harsh truth or a perplexing secret. I express this phrase as a way of demonstrating my reliability. Basically, it means that I’m choosing to put up with someone’s unnecessary difficulties.

 3. I care about you.

When she uses this phrase, it shows that she has a soft spot for you. Caring about someone means investing space in their heart. It depends, however, on the context when she uses it. When I tell a guy that I care about him, sometimes it can be used in a friendly or sisterly manner, because I like reaching out to others. However, if I care about someone romantically, I usually follow up with a kiss or a hug that lingers longer than usual.

4. I miss you.

By telling you that she misses you, it indicates that she feels deeply about you. This, however, is not the case if you only receive late night texts from her (yes, contrary to what culture feeds us as men being predominantly the players, women are also just as capable of using the no-strings-attached card). But, if you’re away on vacation or a business trip, and she tells you that she misses you, then it goes to show that your absence is noticed and it affects her.

For some reason, personally, it’s easier for me to tell family and friends that I miss them. But, when it comes to my romantic interest, I tend to freeze up. I wonder if it’s embedded in me being stubborn and having too much pride. Basically, if I have the guts to tell someone I’m dating that I miss him, then it’s a pretty big deal. For me, anyway.

5. Let’s do it together.

When she says this, it means that she wants to be a more active part of your life. She’s willing to bond with you and transition some of the independence you’re used to having and gearing it towards interdependence. I tend to use this phrase with the person I’m dating when I want to create more emotional connections, whether that means I want to see the sunset with him or over something more complicated, such as helping the both of us get out of our heads.

6. You mean a lot to me.

If she tells you this, then it means that you’ve left a deep impression on her. Expressing to someone that you mean a lot to her goes to show that you’re not just anybody. But rather, you’re someone special to her. I usually only reserve this phrase for the people I care deeply for. If I see that person as a friend, I usually attach the word “friend” to the end. But, if I’m interested in someone romantically, I like to say it alone without anything else attached to it.

7. I’m worried.

If she tells you that she’s worried about something going on in her life, then it shows that she’s opening up and being vulnerable with you. By letting you in, it shows that she’s letting her guard down and trusts you. Or if the concern is something that’s directed towards you, then it also goes to show that she cares about you and only wants the best for you.

If someone I am into starts becoming distant because of something tragic that recently happened, I never hesitate to go the extra mile and give him a call to let him know that I’m worried, even if he can’t tell me what’s going on in that exact moment. It’s something I do to let the person know that he doesn’t necessarily have to face anything alone.

8. I like/love/am in love with you.

This is the most obvious one. By choosing to be bold and upfront using this phrase, it means that she’s willing to put herself in a position where feelings might not be reciprocated. And yet, she’s choosing to express her feelings freely towards you regardless, because you’ve left such a strong impression on her.

There have been moments when I was the first one to say it, and most of those times have left me wanting to vomit. It’s nerve-wracking! But, when I’m into someone, my fears don’t have a chance of winning against the courage I learn to build up. That’s the thing about having strong feelings for someone —you force yourself out of your own comfort zone, because you can’t imagine affording to not be brave for them.
