Top 12 Scary Sleep Disorders!
- REM Behaviour Disorder
This parasomnia is when an individual will act out vivid dreams while sleeping and it occurs during REM sleep, when the brain sends signals to the body to remain in paralysis to prevent danger to the individual while they sleep. However, some individuals don’t receive these signals, which lead them to “act out” their dreams, which may even be violent and can include shouting, kicking and flailing, lasting from 1 ½ to 2 hours per night (Schenck et al., 1986, 1987)! Unlike sleepwalkers, those who suffer from RBD are usually easy to wake up and can recall clear and vivid details of their dream.
