Top 12 Scary Sleep Disorders!

sleepwalking

  1. Sleepwalking

Also called somnambulism, this is when the person will partially wake and wander around. Sleepwalkers don’t usually remember the events that happen while they are sleepwalking due to neurophysiological reasons ((2012), Abstracts. Journal of Sleep Research). Around 80% of sleepwalkers will have a family history of the disorder, leading some researchers to believe that there is a genetic component to sleepwalking. Not every sleepwalker is the same- some may walk zombie-like around their house, some jolt awake and sprint in an attempt to “escape” whatever they were dreaming about, and many children will walk towards a source of light, possibly as a symbol of comfort.
