Being Able To Think About How We Think Is A Sign Of Higher Intelligence.
Introspection is the key to enlightenment
Philosophy poses an interesting conundrum for human beings, and for many, it is a constant source of agitation. This is because human beings possess a higher thinking that allows us to think about thinking. However, this same mechanism that encourages abstract thought also loves answers – which largely do not exist for the pressing existential questions of our lives. The question of intelligence, rationality, mindfulness, and introspection has plagued human beings for centuries. Socrates and Platos, amongst others, wrote extensively on the subject of being human, and their conclusions were largely based in the idea that human beings are capable of rational thought. That we can look at our lives and consider everything, including the mysteries that surround us.
Perhaps one of the more interesting mysteries of human consciousness is this: how are we capable of rationality – how do we think? It is postulated by many that being able to pose this question proves that human intelligence is superior to all other animals. We pride ourselves on being able to utilize language and extoll ideas, whereas other animals run on instinct and act according to needs. Acting on instinct to fulfill needs suggests a lack of mental capacity necessary to partake in higher level thinking processes. Humans do not simply act based on their instincts, but rather take everything into account and then make decisions. Humans think about everything; there are classes, books, ancient texts devoted to how we can think, and different ways to think.
