5 Signs Of Being Bi-curious
Hello, Psych2goers! We’ll be diving into the topic of being bi-curious. Have you ever heard of that term before? If you haven’t, stay tuned! If you have, do you resonate with the points and examples below? Disclaimer: Since sexual orientation is complex, this is article is meant for casual purposes only.
1. Testing the waters
When some people are curious about their own orientation, they tend to try things out with others around them. For example, they can be interested in developing relationships by searching for partners that may be unusual to them. In short, they are exploring whether they are bisexual or not by opening themselves (Merriam-Webster, n.d.).
2. Being uncertain
The main difference between bisexual and bi-curious is that bisexuals have already determined their identity and goal, whereas bi-curious individuals may not have enough experience and conclusion yet. It can be a tough time to figure out one’s sexual orientation, since other factors may influence it, such as considering someone else’s personality versus their sexuality (Horne, 2021).
3. Taking time
It’s always okay to think through it slowly. Not everyone can define their sexual orientation right away. One of the common ways is that some people started out by focusing on a certain type that they are attracted to. Then, they connected with them as an exploration. Others may look for common interests or profile to figure out (Horne, 2021).
4. Seeking advice
Being bi-curious can result in two different kinds of feelings, either feeling proud or shameful. However, there’s nothing to be ashamed of. For many men and women, seeking help through therapy sessions can be a possible way to regain comfort or confidence in their lives (Horne, 2021).
5. Being yourself
It’s possible that a person may not being bisexual after being bi-curious! Because of having various ways to explore with other people, some may end up identifying themselves as pansexual. No matter what conclusion you came up with, be yourself (Horne, 2021)!
Conclusion
Are you experiencing anything mentioned above? What’s the biggest struggle to go through? Stay safe and healthy!
