3 – Middle born children are low in competence, achievement, and self-discipline.
Saroglou and Fiasse (2003) was one of the first order effect study to include middle born children, rather than just first and last born children. They found, that generally, middle born children were lower than their first and last born siblings in competence, achievement and self-discipline. As well as being lower in these traits, they were also higher in impulsivity, and openness to fantasy. Therefore, this study really did give a lot of possible effects of birth order.
