5 Things You Can Do To Seem More Attractive
Hey, Psych2Goers! On a scale of 1 to 10, ten being Brad Pitt, how attractive do you feel right now? Unless you’re actually Brad Pitt, you might have days where you feel less attractive than before. Fear not! There is a way out of the darkness! There are indeed practical and healthy things you can do to get back to that devilishly good-looking person you once were. But what could they possibly be?!
Here are ‘5 Things You Can Do To Seem More Attractive’!

#1. Workout At The Gym
When was the last time you were at the gym? Like a real gym. And not one from Pokemon Go. Be honest. Was it a New Year’s resolution that started out well, but quickly petered out as the months came and went? Going to the gym can be something very intimidating. Especially if you haven’t done it in a long time. It’s hard not to compare yourself to others while working out.
But the truth is, no one cares what you look like. Everyone’s focused on themselves. You should be too. Now that’s not to say that you should make any massive lifestyle changes all at once, because you very easily could burn yourself out. But try going at least once or twice a week. Provided you can afford it. The more you go, the more comfortable you’ll feel, and the easier it will become. Working out will make you feel good, and in turn look good.
#2. Get A Fresh New Haircut
Are you a creature of habit? Have you gotten the exact same haircut from the exact same barber for the last ten years? You like what you like, and there’s nothing wrong with that. Trying a different style than what you’re used to can be a scary prospect. But if you always get the same haircut, people in your life will be less likely to take notice. Maybe that’s what you want. In that case, mission accomplished!
If you want more people to take notice of your hair, you might want to shake things up. Have you ever wanted to dye it a different colour? Maybe you’re growing out your hair longer than usual for a part in a movie. That’s exciting! Always do what’s most comfortable. But maybe sometimes stepping outside of your comfort zone isn’t such a bad idea.
#3. Adjust Your Posture
Do people often tell you to straighten your back? Do you spend a lot of time hunched over while playing video games? Keeping “bad posture” is very easy to maintain, because it’s what likely feels most natural as you get older. Turn to your side when looking in a mirror. How much do you slouch? Try straightening your back and moving your shoulders forward. Tilt your head up, so there’s less stress on your neck. Try it. Feel any better?
Now, how totally weird does it feel? Pretty weird, right? You’ll likely feel awkward and uncomfortable. Like a brand-new action-figure right out of the box! The more you keep this adjustment, the more normal it will become. People will likely view you in a different light. If people think you look taller, you’re not cheating, you’re just showing them a more accurate version of you.
#4. Wear Properly Fitted Clothes
What t-shirt size do you normally wear? Are you frustrated, because you’re neither a “medium” nor a “large”, but somewhere more between the two sizes? Your closet might be a mess. Not in the sense of organization, but in what still fits you. Maybe you’ve put on some weight, and now your favourite button-up shirt is too tight. Or maybe you’ve lost a bunch of weight, but your “bigger jeans” are now too big.
You might enjoy baggy clothes, because they hide parts of your body you’re not comfortable with. That’s totally fair. Wearing clothes that fit your specific body type can help boost your confidence and attractiveness. Maybe you can’t afford fitted clothes. As Tan France from Queer Eye once said: “Buy inexpensive and have it tailored. Money can’t buy you style.”
#5. Jokes. Lots and Lots of Jokes.
Do you ever hang out with your friends and laugh so hard that your cheeks hurt? You probably had a great time. So did they. People love to laugh. Are you known for being a natural comedian? Do you often entertain others at dinner parties? This can be viewed as very attractive.
What’s your favourite kind of humour? Dry and witty? Or broad and slapstick? Maybe a mix of both, depending on the day? If you’re not sure what type of jokes you find funny, maybe do a couple of YouTube searches. Focus on some of your favourite people. Study their style. Copy it if it works for you. Eventually you’ll figure out your own unique and individual voice.
Final Thoughts:
Do you feel pumped up now? Did you agree with any of these points mentioned above? Have you already started working on a couple of them? What other things can you do to make yourself seem more attractive? Have you noticed more people complimenting you lately? Your plan could be working!
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. The main thing to remember, is that you need to like how you look first, before anyone can.
Until next time!
