Playful Teasing

Have you noticed someone teasing you more than others? According to sex therapists,  a bit of playful banter is completely common with crushes and is a classic way of flirting. When someone doesn’t want to fully reveal how attracted they are to you, they may start with a bit of teasing to test the waters and make things less awkward. Maybe they call you a silly nickname or sarcastically joke around with you with a sweet smile on their face. This banter is a sly way of saying, “Hey, I’m interested, and I want you to notice!” So, if they’re throwing good-natured jabs your way, it’s a sign they’re into you.

The Unspoken Compliment

Not all compliments come in words.  Sometimes, it’s the unspoken gestures that speak the loudest. For example, do you notice people tend to be near you over others? There are plenty of empty seats around, but people always end up sitting near you! Well, it’s no coincidence; people subconsciously want to be near those they find attractive. So, if you notice people gravitating toward you in social settings, then it means you’ve got some serious allure.

The Chameleon Effect

Next time you have a feeling someone secretly finds you attractive, pay attention to the way they move and talk. Is it similar to yours? Are they only this way around you? If they’re mirroring your gestures, it’s not just a coincidence but the chameleon effect at work! Psychologists explained in a 1999 study that it’s a “nonconscious mimicry of the postures, mannerisms, facial expressions, and other behaviors of one’s interaction partners.” Simply put, mirroring is a subconscious way people connect and it tends to happen when people find you attractive! They subconsciously mimic your body movements, way of speaking, mood, and so forth. 

Unusual Eye Contact

Picture this: you’re minding your own business when you catch someone’s eye across the room. They quickly look away, but you can still catch a subtle smile. Sounds familiar? If you get the glance-and-smile a lot from those around you, then it means they find you attractive! Another would be the lingering stare. People, especially babies, tend to stare at those they find beautiful. So if you notice anyone doing a double-take when they walk past you or gazing deep into your eyes, this likely means they find you good-looking and just can’t help but admire you.

Those with low self-esteem may believe they’re not as good-looking as they appear. When really, they’re forgetting the qualities that make them great. We all have something unique about us that we can recognize and appreciate. Regardless of what people think about you, when you realize how beautiful you are – inside and out – you can grow into the confident and self-accepting person that lies within you. Beauty is more than just one’s physical appearance. We all have unique qualities that make us beautiful inside and out.
