Signs Someone Is Turned On by You
SEXY DISCLAIMER: This article is for educational and *steamy* entertainment purposes only. It is based on research and personal opinions so it’s not a substitute for professional advice, but general guidance. Every person is different so remember also to trust your intuition and experiences to determine what is best for you!
What turns you on?
Sorry to make you blush.
People of all sexualities and genders have different experiences when it comes to sexual arousal, so if there are so many turn-ons in the world, how do you know if someone is turned on by you?
Naturally, it’s when they do the intimate gaze.
Have you seen how Christian Grey looks at Anastasia in the movie Fifty Shades of Grey?
That soul-piercing, smoky, breath-catching show of enthrallment is an excellent depiction of someone who’s turned on and ready to get their freak on.
According to Caitlin Killoren’s article on The Power of Eye Contact During Intimate Moments, passionate and prolonged eye contact can stimulate sexual arousal, increase trust, and promote intimacy, especially in the bedroom! A 2019 study from the National Institute for Physiological Sciences (NIPS) in Japan explains this, showing that eye contact activates the limbic mirror system, a system of nerves in the brain “devoted to the recognition of affective behavior”. For example, when someone looks happy when they make eye contact with you, you may tend to feel happy too because the same neurons are fired in your brain!
So, watch out for someone’s eye contact behavior because it may be their sign to get freaky deaky!
Another sign is their pitch.
There’s a reason behind the huge number of Tiktok thirst trap edits for Corpse Husband, Crocodile from One Piece, and Vecna from Stranger Things.
That’s right – it’s their deep voices!
These kinds of voices are appealing to such a wide range of people because they’re generally perceived as dominant and attractive.
So it would only make sense that in a moment of sexual arousal, people lower their voice’s pitch to show their interest and attract who they want. You may think that only men do this, but women do it too! In Katrina Woznicki’s article, Voice Is Key in Sexual Attraction, women lower their voices to sound more seductive. This is likely due to the common stereotype and media portrayals showing that sexy female voices are husky, breathy, and lower-pitched.
The next sign is their proximity.
We’ve seen it in Wattpad, movies, novels, and our favorite shows.
In a scene full of sexual tension, the characters just gravitate toward each other as if they’re opposite poles on a magnet!
If you’ve read the webtoon Olgami (or Trapped), you may have noticed how the male lead Park Yoonsoo can’t seem to get his hands off Han Chae Ah throughout their toxic and steamy love story.
This is because sexual attraction has a great influence on interpersonal distance and approach behavior. A 2020 study published in PLOS One, a peer-reviewed scientific journal, shows that subjects approached their preferred targets with “faster” and “larger” steps than the ones they didn’t prefer.
So if someone seems to be itching to be in your personal space, they likely find you incredibly appealing. Who wouldn’t?

The next sign is continuous physical contact.
Off the top of your head, how many songs can you think of that’s about touching someone’s body?
Of course, we have the hit song “Touch by Touch” by Joy, “Touch” by Keshi, “Touch My Body” by Mariah Carey, or if you’re into K-Pop, “Touch My Body” by SISTAR!
Why the obsession with touching, though?
Well, being social creatures, humans crave bonds with one another. We forge relationships and trust through verbal and nonverbal cues, especially physical touch!
According to Taylor Mallory Holland in a 2018 article Facts About Touch: How Human Contact Affects Your Health and Relationships, physical contact such as hugging and the like releases oxytocin, a “bonding hormone”. Furthermore, Alice Klein’s article Sexual desire may be triggered by gentle touch sensors in your skin shows that soft touches and caresses can stimulate and elevate sexual arousal due to the nerve endings in our skin, sending signals to brain regions involved in emotion and pleasure.
Despite the common implications, it’s important to remember that not everyone gets aroused by touching, and certainly, not everyone wants to touch and be touched. Consent, communication, and boundaries are key, folks!
Another sign that someone is sexually stimulated by your presence is sultry behavior.
Are they making sexually suggestive comments or acting a little differently than normal?
An aroused person would naturally want their feelings to be reciprocated. This means that they’re probably going to do things to achieve what they want, which is probably to make Plan A go to Plan B. Pun intended.
A 2005 study on The Effect of Sexual Arousal on Sexual Decision Making shows that sexual arousal acts as an amplifier. It highly influences people to pursue sexually related activities, sometimes to the point of risky behavior. Remember that your safety should always be first, so if you’re experiencing any discomfort and anxiety due to someone’s actions, telling them about it or putting some distance between the both of you is encouraged.
