INFJs Reveal 8 Of Their Darkest Secrets
Disclaimer: The MBTI is a personality inventory designed to roughly identify a person’s personality type, split into 16 categories. As such, it may be prone to not quite hitting the mark for everyone: so take it as a list of rough tendencies rather than strict classifications. This video/article’s primary intention is for providing entertainment and light-hearted content backed up by properly-vetted professional sources.
The INFJ is the rarest personality type out there – making up only about 1 to 3% of the population. For those who aren’t used to the INFJ types, they tend to see them as mysterious type full of contradictions – emotional yet rational, reticent yet accommodating, and structured yet open-minded.
Full of mystery, they harbor secrets that don’t easily get brought to the limelight. Here are 8 of the INFJ’s deepest secrets.
1) While they are emotional, they are also rational
Are you someone who makes decisions by your heart or by your brain – or both?
A common theme for INFJs is their near-uncanny similarity towards their INTJ counterparts. While the INFJ is emotional and sensitive, they can also be highly rational individuals. This is due to their “Thinking” component appearing higher in their function stack, granting them a knack for sound internal logic. This makes them a well-rounded type with developed emotional and logical prowess – something not all other types can boast.
2) INFJs are highly perceptive of people
Do you notice how someone is feeling even without them saying it?
An INFJ knows to the bone the emotional state of others around them, but they can’t help but feel a bit disappointed that no one else does for them. While they may not be aware of their colleague’s favorite color or other trivialities, they do enjoy getting to the heads of people in a deeper, more attuned level.
3) INFJs crave emotional intimacy
Do you like connecting deeply with others? Are you unafraid of exploring the depths of human emotion?
While reserved at first, the INFJ is not at all averse to going deep into the hearts of people who have proven their worth to them. The INFJ type can be social should the need persist – but they prefer the degree of sociability to also have an emotional connection for it to really kick off on the right track. Highly empathic types, the INFJ can walk in the shoes of other people easily.
4) They sometimes feel like outsiders
Do you sometimes feel like you don’t belong in a place – even if others say you do?
Oftentimes, the INFJ feels like they are on a different wavelength and can have hunches or gut feelings that no one else knows about. This is mainly due to their dominant intuition function, which allows them to see patterns subconsciously. These patterns also tend to stem from human-related endeavors, considering their predominantly feeling personality.
5) They absorb other people’s emotions, even strangers
Are you like a sponge for other people’s emotional states?
With a high affinity towards other’s emotional states, the INFJ’s emotional tell does not only stop at awareness but goes beyond and absorbs it as well. If a person with a sad, somber mental state enters the room, the INFJ feels that gloom as well, and the same thing happens with other emotions. This is because the “Feeling” component of their personality orients them to other’s mental state over their own, more often than not.
6) Despite all, they are still introverts
Has anyone ever called you an extrovert – even if you adamantly deny it?
Some people might brand INFJ as ambiverts, and it’s not difficult to see why. They are passionate, enthusiastic, and can talk for hours about interesting topics or something they believe in. But unlike their extroverted counterparts, they tend to share this side of themselves only with their small group of friends rather than with the strangers they met at last night’s party. And even then, they may still have to recharge at the end of the day.
7) Their intuition can be scarily accurate
Have you predicted something to happen, or someone to do something, and nail that forecast?
The intuition of an INFJ is not to be taken lightly; it allows them to see the big picture, notice patterns, and determine possible future outcomes. They see what could happen and their hunches and insights are, relative to the other types, eerily accurate sometimes.
8) Deep inside, INFJs writhe at conflict
Are you sensitive and conflict-averse?
INFJs are harmonious types; they enjoy building rapport with people and hate having to argue with them. It can be distressing for the INFJ when conflict arises, but healthy types do understand how to maturely handle arguments. Running away from conflict is one of the learned tendencies that INFJs picked up. But more often than not, it doesn’t solve anything and just leaves both parties feeling worse.
Closing Thoughts
Each INFJ is one of a kind and they all sport differences that make each of them unique. This makes them one of the most mysterious and pleasant types to really get to know. With that said, we hope you have learned more about the different secrets the INFJ possesses.
