Top 12 Scary Sleep Disorders!
- Nocturnal Eating Disorder
An individual with this disorder will partially wake and rapidly eat whatever food they can find. Many will have forgotten about it by morning, and will have little or no appetite for breakfast but that’s not the worst thing that can happen to someone with NED. Because the person is only partially conscious, they may attempt to eat foods not usually mixed together, like mustard and ice-cream, or even foods not fit for human consumption, like raw meat (Gluck, M. E., Geliebter, A. and Satov, T. (2001). This one affects up to 3% of the population, with one suspected cause being high serotonin levels which can lead to decreased feelings of satiety (feeling full).
